Before I share my understanding of the English language, let me tell you something you already know. This language is spoken all around the world. It is the most spoken language around the globe. So, English has now become the most essential language in the world. I believe, everyone should be connected to this language because it will become ‘a need’ and won’t just remain ‘a fashion’ in the future.
I belong to a beautiful country – ‘India’. I have figured that three types of people have different perspectives on English. First, I call them ‘Mr./Ms. Hollywood’ hahaha… Well, of course, the reason is simple. They get so much into the lifestyle shown in Hollywood. They don’t just adopt the language (which they find ‘cool’ for sure) but also the lifestyle of English culture. For them, English is fashion.
Second, I call them ‘English Freak’. I have observed that there are these specific kinds of people who believe English is a standard and not just a language. They try so hard to adopt this language and get to that standard(sometimes by comparing themselves or their English with the first category’s people) that they lose the command over their own language/languages (mother tongue and or national language). They forget that English is just a language for exchanging verbal/written ideas. Remember, there are other languages too! I understand that English has now become a necessity for the majority of us. For that, I would say, use it wisely and don’t try to crack the personality over it just like the people who do it – the third one…
Third, I call them ‘Polyglot’ – people who know more than one language. These people never try to act like ‘Hollywood’ or ‘English Freak’. They just use English as a tool to fix things whenever they need it. Believe me, they are smart and they learn English or any other language wisely based on their necessity without losing command over their own language/languages.
In reality, English has not just remained a language; it has become a culture to live with.
Think about it!
